Data journalism and digital strategy

In 2021, Rachel was selected to be a member of the Dow Jones News Fund's digital media program. There, she got to learn from some of the best digital journalists around the country as well as develop a website and create infographics for a team project. At the University of Maryland, she was a member of Capital New Service's digital bureau where she developed data stories and coded websites. As The Diamondback's director of digital strategy, she also executed monthly data reports on website traffic. At Bloomberg, she continued to engage in data-driven work to create packages for upcoming stories and keep an eye on audience growth. At The Associated Press, Rachel was responsible for keeping track of data for grant-funded teams.

At The Associated Press, Rachel was responsible for tallying data for grant-funded teams. She wrote monthly and quarterly reports that were seen by editorial teams and financial donors.​

Maryland Vaccine Dashboard

During the height of confusion around vaccine eligibility and accessibility, Rachel helped design, code and maintain a dashboard dedicated to providing readers with clear information.
